Katy Perry 'Sesame Street' Video Yanked (VIDEO)
Katy Perry's "Sesame Street" spot ruffled parents', um, feathers.
Pardon the Big Bird pun -- we had to go there. We reported Wednesday morning on the wacky match made between Katy Perry and "Sesame Street" when a video leaked featuring Perry dueting with her furry friend Elmo. Turns out parents don't exactly see Katy Perry and her boobs as suitable for children, and "Sesame Street" obeyed. (We have the vid right here.)
Katy Perry, the songstress best known for kissing a girl and liking it and waking up in Vegas, definitely made for a strange celeb casting on kids TV icon "Sesame Street." Even though Perry is known for being animated, beautiful and fun just like kids love, the message behind a lot of her music -- fun and sex -- made a lot of us wonder what puppets were running the show over on "Sesame Street."
Katy Perry's "Sesame Street" video featured her in a low-cut, cleavage-baring, spaghetti-strap dress and a sort of bridal veil to partake in a game of dress-up with the eternally lovable Elmo. "Sesame Street" producers parodied Perry's "Hot N Cold" for the skit, but despite Perry's cartoonish portrayal, parents aren't getting the Katy Perry-"Sesame Street" connection.

So they complained. And "Sesame Street" responded with the following statement published Thurs., Sept. 23:
"Sesame Street has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult. We use parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show because we know that a child learns best when co-viewing with a parent or care-giver. We also value our viewer's opinions and particularly those of parents. In light of the feedback we've received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on You Tube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street, which is aimed at preschoolers."

At press time it appeared as though no one had informed Miss Katy Perry that her "Sesame Street" video wasn't going to air, but prior to the outcry, Perry had told her 4 million Twitter followers Wednesday: "I can totally tell you how to get to Sesame Street! I've been, Elmo & I hang out." Then Perry linked to the video, which had been removed from YouTube by Thursday morning.
Oops! Lucky for you, we still have the Katy Perry "Sesame Street" video. "Sesame Street," you're right, we love Katy Perry...but what were ya thinkin'?
