Katy Perry Taking a Break from Music?

Katy Perry, who has been working non-stop even through her split from Russell Brand, is planning to take an "extended break" from the spotlight, but when can fans expect her to return? 

According to The Mirror, Perry  told her staff that she needs to "let my heart heal" and is planning to work through the commitments she made to promote her film Katy Perry: Part of Me, before taking a much-needed break.

Perry recently spoke with Jay Leno about why she decided to include footage of her break up in her new movie.

She explained, "It wasn't always exciting to watch those unflattering scenes where I'm crying and having an intense moment. But I think that people will relate to the movie even more seeing me at my lowest point and now at my highest point."

The footage is rumored to have caused her to take the self-imposed break from her career beginning next month.

Perry further explained that it was important for her to include that part of her life in the film, telling Leno, "I wanted to handle it very delicately with the most integrity I could possibly have and show people that like ‘Look yeah I'm going through some of the same situations that half of America goes through,' and somehow I landed on my feet and you don't have to lay down and die even if you feel like you're going to."
