Our girl crushes on Katy Perry have just been validated: Katy Perry has been named as Number One of Maxim Magazine's Hot 100 women...here's why.

If guys can put away their tongues long enough to forget 25-year-old Katy Perry's American Beauty features (that's the old-school term for the dark hair-light eye combo), her spunky, no-BS cuteness and her freaking bangin' body, it appears they're all most mystified by her upbringing.

We all know that California-born Katy Perry was raised in an uber-strict Christian, singing Gospel music while her dad was a church pastor. Around the age of 16, after she had a couple Christian albums on the shelves, Katy Perry told her family that she just wasn't the person they'd raised her to be. She loved boys and sex and doing what she wanted too much, and even though her parents were reportedly disappointed they've supported her choices ever since.

Katy Perry left high school to pursue a career in pop music, and she made her name with 2008's "I Kissed A Girl." A girl singing about kissing a girl put Katy Perry on the chart with men, but after years of dating like mad (she was once featured in an article called "How to Date Four Guys At Once") Perry made it clear she was into monogamy. She made out at the 2009 VMAs with comic Brit Russell Brand, and the two became engaged over the holidays.

Thank you, Maxim, we couldn't agree more: Katy Perry is the hottest woman of 2010. Maxim Editor-in-Chief Joe Levy says this about their choice: Katy Perry is "a triple -- no, quadruple -- kind of hot.
