Researchers at Purdue University looked at the test results of high school teenagers in Indiana and found that no-sex education seemed to influence their performance.
Of 42 schools, the half that taught the PEER program (an abstinence-only education program) had a higher percentage of sophomores pass the math portion of Indiana's graduating exam.
"Schools are communities, and abstinence-only sex education programs may have an impact on schools that is beyond their originally stated aims," said sociology professor Kenneth Ferraro, the study's lead researcher.

While focusing on algebra more than sex might get you good grades, that doesn't mean you are going to make intelligent choices between the sheets. Planned Parenthood of Indiana was unimpressed with the study, saying complete sex education is vital to promoting healthy and safe sex habits with teenagers
"States with policies that support comprehensive sexuality education have lower teen pregnancy and birthrates," the organization said in a statement.
