Kim Kardashian is never afraid to make waves with her down-to-there hair, but Tuesday she surprised us all by losing a lot of the length. With her wedding approaching, how did Kardashian find the nerves to lob off her locks (or were they extensions)? Here she explains her short-shock and big bang, baby...your opinion?

Tuesday Kim Kardashian told her (almost) eight million followers on Twitter: "I cut my hair today! Kinda short, like to my shoulders!" We're so used to seeing Kardashian with a length that falls to her waist, but we have to echo her sentiment about the relaxed new look. "I'm loving the change!" she tweeted.

For sure: Kardashian showed off her shorter hair on The Tonight Show Tuesday night, and as she opened up a bit about her engagement to Kris Humphries, it sounds like love may just have her feeling lighter. (That is, of course, except for the 20.5 carat diamond Humphries proposed with last month.) Kardashian also told Us Weekly that indeed she wanted to express the turn of events in her life through her look. "I just wanted a change! I always wear my hair the same, and wanted something fresh!" she said.

What else might have inspired Kardashian's tress-ful transformation? Tuesday she tweeted a link to a set of photos in which she'd been styled with big bangs and light-colored contacts. "What do you think of the dramatic look?" Kardashian asked. We wouldn't expect anything less than drama for the Kar-fashionista, who's already hinting at another haircut: "Next week I will go shorter!" she says. And the world holds its breath.
