Kim Kardashian Dropped from Skechers Ad Campaign

Kim Kardashian has been replaced by a dog. No, Kris Humphries hasn't adopted a new pitt bull, but the ad executives who worked on the Skechers Super Bowl campaign this year have dropped Kim from the spot.

You may recall Kardashian in the last Super Bowl Skechers ads, showing off her sexy curves and vamping for the camera -- she was poised to reprise the act but now comes word that Skechers has gone to the dogs instead.

A French bulldog will instead take the lead in the Skechers Super Bowl commercial, which features the pooch, wearing Skechers new GOrun shoes, outrunning a pack of greyhounds at the racetrack.

On their end, Skechers' honchos say that the bad press surrounding Kardashian's divorce from Kris Humphries had nothing to do with the move to replace her.

Leonard Armato, president of Skechers Fitness, commented, "Kim got us more attention than we ever dreamed," but added, "We have to establish Skechers as more than a lifestyle company."

The ad is drawing criticism from Grey2K USA, an animal rights group that says that the greyhounds were mistreated at the Tucson Greyhound Park while making the commercial.

The American Humane Society says no animals were harmed during the ad production.

The question remains -- will the dog do a better acting job than Kardashian? Like that would be difficult.

The real story behind the Skechers Super Bowl ad has nothing to do with Kim Kardashian and everything to do with cruelty to greyhounds. It is unconscionable that Skechers would shoot an ad at this notorious dog track where hundreds of dogs live lives of confinement and die on the track.    At Tucson Greyhound Park, greyhounds are kept confined in small cages which are barely large enough for them to stand up or turn around.  They are fed raw 4-D meat, the meat of downed, diseased, disabled or dead livestock.  This was documented in a recent video investigation.   While racing, greyhounds face the risk of serious injury. According to state records, between January 2007 and November 2009, nearly 1,000 greyhound injuries were reported at Arizona racetracks. The most common injury was a broken leg, and other reported injuries included fractures, sprains, dislocations, muscle tears and strains, lacerations, a cracked skull, broken backs, heat stroke, puncture wounds and paralysis.
