Kristen Stewart Covers 'Elle UK' Instead Of 'Vogue US'

Plus, Stewart spills on Pattinson romance after iPod debaucle.

Kristen Stewart has a sly publicist. After last week's rumors that Stewart had a falling-out with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, she turned up covering Elle UK. We have the flawless photo...and the reason Vogue dropped KStew.

Apparently Vogue was planning to run a massive Kristen Stewart feature for their June issue. It sounds, however, as though Stewart would not submit to Vogue EIC Anna Wintour's demands for a very detailed, uber-personal interview. Vogue had even begun to shoot images of Kristen, but they wound up publishing only one photo, making Kristen Stewart appear as nothing more than a backseat actress only capable of predicating a back-of-book style page.

For shame.Vogue's alternative strategy garnered big criticism when they ran a boring cover feature on Gossip Girl Blake Lively, who, according to Lainey Gossip via Celebitchy, is known to do whatever Anna Wintour says. But when Blake Lively turned up as Vogue's bubble-gum surfer-girl cover girl, Kristen Stewart turned up in a Euro-sophisticate spread in Elle UK.

It's all good because we're one of the very few sites who have gotten hold of the revealing quotes from Kristen Stewart's Elle UK interview -- here are a couple: "I'm quite nervous about the third one, actually," Kristen says about Eclipse. "It's such a privilege to be able to play a role for so long. Also, it's such a product now; it didn't start out as a product."

Then she opens up in a rant about Robert Pattinson when the interviewer sees the photo on the display of Stewart's iPod: "It's a familiar deliciously handsome young man with an arm around Kristen and an arm around Jella, her cat," the reporter's quoted sayng. "Without saying a word, [Stewart] quickly shoves the device back into the glove compartment and turns up the volume before I can say anything."

"It's so weird, that you have to be worries about people seeing things," Stewart finally says in response to the iPod image. "You want to be excited about something, normal people can be excited about their lives, and I am, too, but it's such a different thing. It comes out as entertainment for other people and that makes me want to throw up."
