Lady Gaga Gets Inspired by Using Drugs
"I'm not some chick on the road getting high and f***ed up every night."
Lady Gaga will do anything to get the creative edge. And if that means taking all sorts of drugs, so be it. The "Poker Face" singer says in a new interview that while she does drugs occasionally, it's only so she can bring you tastier music.
Talking to Q Magazine, Gaga responds to the furor she drummed up when she told Vanity Fair that she occasionally does cocaine by saying it's mostly just to get inspired.
"[Using drugs] I really figured out the art I wanted to make and was inspired," she said. "Some people find inspiration in dark places. I guess I'm one of them. What always made me different is that if I was doing drugs I was also making music. I wasn't just doing drugs."
Gaga said she used to do "performance art in handmade leather and leopard bikinis talking about oral sex and Andy Warhol and heavy metal," drug-fueled behavior that had her mother worried.
But now the singer says she no longer needs drugs, and that she only does cocaine maybe "a couple of times a year."
"Once you open those doors they're open for ever," she told Q. "People who say they need [drugs] to be creative are full of s**t. I'm not some chick on the road getting high and f***ed up every night. I wake up, drink coffee and get on the phone to talk about the creative direction of the next video."
