When you think bleach-blonde pop icons, you think Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, and now, Lady Gaga. But according to a new report, this almost wasn't the case as Gaga had planned to enter the music scene as her natural brunette. Can you imagine!

Lady Gaga told a British paper that the only reason she adopted the platinum blonde look was so that she wouldn't resemble British mess -- er, singer -- Amy Winehouse. "I used to wear my hair big and wear lots of eyeliner before Amy came out," Gaga says, "and then [she was everywhere and] I thought: 'Oh s**t.' So I dyed my hair." She also added that when she was about to make her big break, "...Everyone had dark hair..."

Would the soulful-eccentic Wino mixup have been a bad thing? No, no, says Lady Gaga: "You know, it's not a bad thing. I think Amy is beautiful." The problem was that Gaga wanted to establish her individuality: "...When you're trying to make imagery for yourself in the world [looking like anyone else is a bad idea]. I wasn't even signed [yet]. I was making music in bars."

Now she's making music everywhere and doing it so well that the press is clamoring for details of Lady Gaga's personal life. Early this week we found a whopper: Lady Gaga secretly has been dating her ex.
