Latest Academy Awards Most-Watched in Five Years
And the winner is... Oscar!
The awards have all been handed out, the gowns have been put back on their racks, and the dust has settled from the 82nd Academy Awards. The verdict? Sunday night's broadcast was the most-watched Oscars in five years.
While folks at home were eager to see if their favorite films and actors would take home a golden statue (go Jeff Bridges!), Disney's ABC network was crossing its fingers in hopes of a high viewer turn out.
And it appears they got one. According to Nielsen Media, the recent Academy Awards telecast brought in an estimated 41.3 million viewers, making it the most watched Oscars in half a decade.
Compare that to last year's ceremony, which captured 36.3 million television, and to the year before that, when the Academy Awards was seen by a paltry, record-low audience of 32 million.
