Lauryn Hill Pregnant with Sixth Child

Pregnant!

What a surprise.

Here I was, thinking that Lauryn Hill was going to have a great comeback after way too long out of the spotlight. A dynamic but often shaky performer, Lauryn unexpectedly disappeared from the scene before tentatively making a few live appearances in 2010 and 2011. With a child on the way, it sounds like she's scheduling more personal time.

Already having referred to herself as possibly the "most fertile woman in America," Lauryn Hill announced her pregnancy at a concert in Detroit's Chene Park on Saturday. This will be her sixth with boyfriend Rohan Marley; can you believe it? Lauryn's oldest, Zion, is going to be 14 years old this August.

"She told the crowd, 'I'm going to be taking time off to give birth'," reported Ashley Trybula of Detroit's Hot 102.7.

Lauryn mentioned that she keeps "having these children" at a prior concert this year, but a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon didn't give anything away. The former Fugees singer was wearing a long, printed dress on the show that effectively hid any bump she had. I watched the (terrible) clip on YouTube, and I could just barely make something out in the beginning, when the camera did a full-body shot.

There's no word yet about the sex of the baby, and we don't know when the baby's due. My guess, judging from the time of her announcement? Her baby is due in October or November. My guess is that it will be a boy; her last was a girl. We shall see.
