Lea Michelle Addresses Cory Monteith's Death on Live Awards Show [VIDEO]
Michelle Was More Than A Little Teary During Her Tribute to Monteith
It's been nearly a month since "Glee" star, Cory Monteith, overdosed in a Vancouver hotel room, and, last night, while on stage to accept her "Choice TV Actress" award at the "Teen Choice Awards," his girlfriend -- and "Glee" co-star, Lea Michelle, talked publicly about his passing for the first time.
"I wanted to dedicate this award to Cory," Michelle managed to say while fighting back tears. "For all of you out there who loved and admired Cory as much as I did, I promise that, with your love, we're going to get through this together."
The acceptance speech continued. "He was very special to me, and also to the world, and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile, and his beautiful, beautiful heart," she continued. "So whether you knew him personally or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and he became a part of all of our hearts — and that's where he'll stay forever, so thank you guys so much."
You can watch the video of the touching speech below.
"Glee" will be back on Fox on Thursday, Sept. 26, and the third episode of season 5, as creator Ryan Murphy has said, will address Monteith's character's (Finn) death.
