Leona Lewis' Attacker Was 'X Factor' Reject
Father of Peter Kowalczyk says he got "nowhere" with his music career.
Yet more details in the attack on Leona Lewis in a London bookstore on Wednesday that onlookers described as "horrendous" and "unprovoked."
Lewis received a brutal punch to the temple that has left her massively bruised and at home, where she's being nursed by longtime boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa and her father, who reportedly flew back to London from Los Angeles to be with Lewis.
Kowalczyk's father has come forward to say that his son, a 29-year-old who lives at home with both parents, was jealous of Leona Lewis' singing success. It's said Kowalczyk was a contestant on Britain's X Factor, and he took being rejected hard. Kowalczyk's dad revealed that his son spoke often of other pop stars as well, like British singer Alesha Dixon. "He wants to be a singer," his dad told a British paper. "He went along and queued at X Factor. How far he got with it? Nowhere."
Doesn't sound like he'll be going much of anywhere either. Kowalczyk's been charged with physical assault and reportedly is being quarantined at a psychiatric hospital near London. Kowalczyk has health problems, according to his mother, including anemia which can affect his behavior.
