Leonardo DiCaprio Joins Mel Gibson for Viking Epic
The Vikings are coming!
Two titans of Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio and Mel Gibson, are finally going to share a film set. The pair is reportedly set to craft a tale revolving around the world of Vikings, with Gibson directing and DiCaprio acting.
There are few details about the reported project, but considering the action and brutality of Gibson's past films, like Braveheart, Apocalypto and The Passion of the Christ, you can be sure the untitled Viking film won't be a sweet and sappy rom-com.
According to producer Graham King, the film is going to be quite the doozy. "This will be an awe-inspiring story," he said, "created with some of the industry's finest cinematic talent, and I am just over the moon to be making this film with Mel, Leo and Bill."
Screenwriter William (Bill) Monaghan, who worked with DiCaprio on the Oscar-winning The Departed, is writing the script.
Shooting isn't expected to begin until Fall of next year, after Gibson is done with the drama How I Spent My Summer Vacation. DiCaprio in the meantime can be seen in the upcoming Scorcese thriller Shutter Island.
