Biography
Kristen Jaymes Stewart was born on April 9, 1990 in Los Angeles, California. Born to parents submersed in the entertainment business (her mom is a script supervisor and her dad is a TV producer), it didn't take long for Kristen to get interested in acting. At just 8 years old she landed her first role, though it was non-speaking, in the Disney Channel's The Thirteenth Year. Stewart went to school through seventh grade at which point she focused on acting and continued her schooling through correspondence.
Stewart's first major role was in the Jodie Foster-helmed Panic Room. Playing Foster's daughter in the thriller, she earned positive reviews and raised her profile. After that film, she starred in a variety of others including Cold Creek Manor with Sharon Stone and Dennis Quaid, Catch That Kid with Corbin Bleu, Zathura directed by Jon Favreau, and Fierce People with Diane Lane.
2007 was a big year for Stewart. She co-starred in In the Land of Women with Meg Ryan and also played Tracy in Sean Penn's critically renowned film, Into the Wild. She, along with the rest of the Into the Wild cast, was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

But perhaps the biggest Kristen Stewart news of 2007 was her casting as Isabella "Bella" Swan in the highly anticipated Twilight saga based on the popular vampire novels penned by Stephenie Meyer. Cast opposite Robert Pattinson, the two experienced an instant influx of fame as filming began. Twilight brought in over $380 million worldwide in revenue and was one of the biggest films of 2008. Stewart earned a MTV Movie Award for Best Female Performance for this film. Stewart and Pattinson reunited to film New Moon, the sequel to Twilight to be released in 2009.
Stewart was recently cast as Joan Jett in the film The Runaways, a biopic on the rock legend. Her haircut for the role, along with her rumored relationship with Twilight co-star Pattinson, has been widely featured in weekly gossip magazines and she remains one of the most sought-after celebrities.
