Lucy Liu and Rihanna for Charlie's Angels?

The new angels are coming

Lucy Lui hit the big-screen in 2000 with a movie version of Charlie's Angels. And now rumor has it the popular 70s television show is coming back to the small-screen with Lucy Liu returning as an angel. And she could be bringing Rihanna with her.

Another big-screen angel Drew Barrymore is setting herself to the task of bringing Charlie's Angels back to the big-screen. And here's what she says about the girls she's looking for to play the angels: "The girls we pick must be incredibly capable, but not take themselves too seriously." We already know Lucy Liu can pull it off and that does sound like exactly the kind of girl Rihanna is.

Of course, we've never even seen Rihanna act, so we're thinking that casting her could be a bit of a risk. However, she is set to play a role in the upcoming remake of The Last Dragon, which proves she at least has an interest in acting (and maybe a bit of a talent). We wonder if she would take time out from her busy touring and music schedule to work on a television set.

And if Lucy Liu and Rihanna really are angels, who will the third girl be? We're thinking maybe Drew Barrymore will jump in for a production and starring role. Girl can handle it! Of course, Cameron Diaz has said she's up for a third Charlie's Angels movie, so maybe shed star in the show, as well. The only thing we're certain of is that John Forsythe will be returning as the voice of Charlie Townsend. He's now 92 years old and was in the original television series, as well.

It sounds like Charlie's Angels has already found a network as well, as it's set to air on ABC in spring 2011. Do you think it will be as popular as the original Charlie's Angels was with Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith?
