They've got mad style

It seems that Mad Men is having the Gossip Girl effect when it comes to influencing today's fashion. We love the fashion sense of both the ladies and men and would have no problem with 1960s fashion coming back in style!

We first noticed it on Twitter. Everyone has been turning their avators into characters from the Mad Men lately. Everyone wants to look like a character from the show! And with the season premiere coming up on Sunday, lots of bars and restaurants around the country are having parties that require guests to come dressed in their 1960s apparel.

We love it! Men.Style.com recently defined the top 3 men's looks for 2009 and guess what #1 is? It's called "Man Up," and according to the publication, "The top look for Fall calls for a new mode of masculinity, one that combines the classic style of a guy like Mad Men's Don Draper with a mindset that's anything but retro. Look for manly suits (strong-shouldered, three-piece, pinstripe, or double-breasted), four-in-hand tie knots, and classic accessories (gentleman's umbrella, briefcase)." We wouldn't mind if all men started dressing like Don Draper!

Banana Republic is getting in on the fun too, by urging their shoppers to find their "Mad Men style" at Banana Republic. They want their customers to take photos of themselves dressed in their Mad Men garb for a chance to win a walk-on role on the show.

We love the Mad Men ladies flowered dresses, cashmere coats, and beautiful jewelry, so we're totally fine dressing like the women from the show.
