Magazines Coming to Your iPad Via Netflix-like Service
Magazine Service Coming to iPad This Year
Your favorite magazines will be heading to your iPad very soon, in a model that's similar to the Netflix service for TV and movies.
Next Issue Media will offer unlimited access to magazine publications, for as low as $9.99 per month, through a new app due out later this year.
This is pretty cool, especially for the pack-rat types like myself who can't bear to throw out old magazines because maybe I'll read that issue again someday. (I won't.)

Magazines join the digital age though the new service that will be very similar to Netflix -- pay a monthly subscription fee, get unlimited access to a variety of magazines.
It's a total bonus that you get to read a number of different types of mags that you otherwise wouldn't want to buy in store, so it really opens up your options.
The magazine service, via an app from Next Issue Media, has actually been in operation for some Android devices since April, but the iPad availability will provide plenty of new subscribers.
Look for more buzz to build about the service later this year -- according to Ad Age, "an unlimited subscription to participating monthly and biweekly magazines costs $9.99 per month. The premium version that also includes weeklies costs $14.99 per month. The service offers 39 titles, including Vogue, Wired, Fortune, Time, Popular Mechanics, Elle and Better Homes and Gardens."
