Man Wins Lottery Twice in One Day
What are the chances?
When Phillip Brunelle, 29, won $1,000 on a scratcher ticket, he decided to press his luck and buy some more. Little did he know, the next prize would do more than just make him rich. It would make him famous.
The odds of scratching a $1 million prize in the Billion Dollar Bonanza ticket game are 1 in 436,800, yet that's exactly what Brunelle did, with a line of fellow customers watching in disbelief.
"At that point, I didn't know what to do. I was kind of in shock,” said Brunelle outside the convenience store in Fall River, Mass. "I'm still kind of shaking."
With the money, Brunelle says he's going to open a photography studio in Fall River, and take care of his mother who has cerebral palsy.
"I'm going to try to help her out, get her a new car or newer car, so she does not have to depend on everyone else to do everything for her," he said. "Without her, I wouldn't be here."
Still, such amazing luck doesn't last forever. On his way home, Brunelle said, he got a flat tire.
