Manolo Blahnik Hates Sex and the City?

The girls move on shoe-wise

You may have noticed in the behind the scenes photos that the girls of Sex and the City 2 have been sporting Christian Louboutin shoes. This had us wondering, what ever happened to the girls' obsession with Manolo Blahnik? Well, it sounds like Manolo Blahnik isn't exactly a Sex and the City fan.

We think it's pretty safe to say Manolo Blahnik is a household name in part due to the girls of Sex and the City, They spent many an episode talking about and shopping for Manolos. But apparently, it didn't make Manolo himself very happy. According to him, "If people talk to me about Sex and the City I get sick... It becomes too much and I don't feel comfortable." He says he never wanted to be a celebrity shoe designer!

Exactly what kind of shoe designer did he want to be? The crazy thing is, he even admits that part of the shoe company's success is due to the first Sex and the City movie. Why does he sound so miserable about it? He says, "We had a very good year last year, thanks to those stupid satin shoes. That shoe saved our company." He's referring to the first pair of shoes Carrie puts in Big's closet: a pair of blue satin Manolos with a crystal buckle. The shoes, which retail for $895, sold like crazy after the movie came out.

We don't get what Blahnik's problem is and we'd think he'd be a bit more appreciative of all the publicity. Even though Christian Laboutin is already an often talked about brand, we hope they appreciate the Sex and City's shoe-wearing fetishes!
