Mariah Carey Gives Drunken Acceptance Speech

And the award for most daquiris goes to...

Mariah Carey needs to lay off the juice. The pop diva was honored at the Palm Springs International Film Festival last night for her performance in Precious, and she in turn honored guests with a loopy, booze-filled acceptance speech.

Carey walked on stage for Tuesday night's award show a few drinks deep. She gave her presenter, Precious director Lee Daniels, a big hug and a dance, then started laughing as she tried to put together sentences for a speech.

"Please forgive me because I'm a little bit um, yeah!" she said, with slurred speech, a grin and droopy eyes. "Oooooooh, my goodness!" she exclaimed.

As she continued trying to praise her director's speech, she had fits of clapping. "Sorry," she told Daniels. "Sometimes I get a little ..." then she stopped to snap her fingers, perhaps ward off a burp, adding "... you know, difficult."

With the audience dumbfounded, Carey thanked them "for listening to my little spiel, and God bless you."

Of course, other artists couldn't help but poke fun at her the rest of the night. Sean was the next presenter, saying "I plan to do this (presenting an award) in absolute sobriety, forgive me if I squeak."
