Mariah Carey Reveals Twin Babies' Names
Materialistic and "predictably weird"?
We knew Mariah Carey was about to name her newborn baby boy and girl "M" names, and we heard earlier this week that she was dreaming up such craziness as "Mirage" and "Mermaid." (Seriously.) Now Mariah has announced the names of her twins...and Mirage and Mermaid might have been less weird.
Okay, maybe not. Mariah Carey announced early this week that she and hubby Nick Cannon were kicking around baby names like Michaela and Mandarin, Mirium and Mauritius, Marauder and Moesha, and Michael and Marilyn -- yep, after Michael Jackson and Marilyn Monroe.

Oh, but the final decision wasn't that far of a departure from Marilyn: in fact, Wednesday Mariah and Nick Cannon announced that they had named their daughter Monroe; while their son had been given the moniker of Moroccan.
Why name an American baby Moroccan? We're all about the inspiration of Carey and Cannon's African heritage and all, but it turns out this had nothing to do with their decision. Reports Philly.com:
"The couple chose to name their son Moroccan Scott Cannon after the Moroccan-inspired decor of the top tier of Mariah's New York City apartment. He thus becomes the first child ever to be named after riad architecture."
