French beauty Marion Cotillard has surprised "Batman" fans. The Oscar winner -- who's pregnant -- will bring a sexy Euro spin to "The Dark Knight Rises." Here's what we know about Marion Cotillard's "Batman" gig.
If you thought the next "Batman" installment couldn't be any more iconic than what the franchise has done before, fortunately, you're wrong. Marion Cotillard, 35, has just joined Anne Hathaway in the cast of "The Dark Knight Rises," and as our pals at People.com are saying, we're pretty pumped to see the series get a little Frenchy.

From a business standpoint, Marion Cotillard's participation in "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises" is an absolutely brilliant move. Producers always want to bring in actors and storylines with international appeal, and Marion Cotillard is the epitome of French flair. Word has it she signed on to the "Batman" project Saturday in Paris. There's no word yet on which character she'll play, but there's one major part we know is already off-limits: Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, will see Anne Hathaway in all her latexed glory. Holy hotties, Batman!

Marion Cotillard is due with her first child in April (to French actor/director Guillaume Canet), but the timing for her "Batman" gig should work out just right: word has it Cotillard will begin filming "The Dark Knight Rises" in London in mid-June.
