Marky Mark gets his star.
Mark Wahlberg is finally getting his proper recognition. The actor and former dancer, singer and model will be presented with the 2,414th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame later today.
Wahlberg, 39, will get his piece of the pie later today at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, right in front of Dillon's Irish Pub, as he is presented with his own corner of the sidewalk.
The actor will be joined by comedian Will Ferrell, his co-star in the upcoming movie The Other Guys, along with the movie's director and a crowd of Wahlberg's family, friends and biggest fans.
Born Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg in Boston, Mass., in 1971, the actor is the youngest of nine children. He shot to superstardom as the young rapper Marky Mark back in the early '90s with his group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, and he would go on to star in huge underwear campaigns for Calvin Klein.
Then in 1997 he got into serious acting, earning widespread critical praise for his role as pornstar Dirk Diggler in the movie Boogie Nights.
Since then he has starred in dozens of films alongside other A-list actors, and was even nominated for an Academy Award for his turn as a police detective in Martin Scorcese's The Departed.
He currently serves as producer on the hit HBO show Entourage.
Speaking of Entourage, did you hear castmember Maury Chaykin died earlier this week?
