Meet New Moon's Volturi
The other side of vampires
We've been waiting to see what Twilight's Volturi vampires would look like. And now, finally, photos of the evil clan have been released! Kind of creepy, huh?
I think we've all been most excited to see Dakota Fanning as Volturi member Jane. But really, we want to see the whole clan and how evil-looking they are. The Volturi crew consists of Dakota Fanning, Michael Sheen (Aro), Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius), Cameron Bright (Alec), and Christopher Heyerdahl (Marcus).
But we are most excited about Dakota Fanning's Jane because she's the most evil of them all. Jane can inflict intense pain on anyone by manipulating their brain functions which makes them feel like they are burning to death. Should be interesting to watch!
Earlier this year, Michael Sheen said of Dakota Fanning, "I think Dakota may look the most unsettling. So angelic, yet so weird. As Jane that is, of course. Like an evil red riding hood." We have to agree, though the rest of them look pretty creepy too!
The Volturi will threaten Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in New Moon, but their ultimate goal is to protect the vampire society. They are kind of vampire royalty. We love that all Volturi members have red eyes, just like in the Twilight books! According to director Chris Weitz, "They're all hand-painted, specially manufactured contacts... They're opaque red, almost like preying mantis eyes. You can't really see into them. There's something terribly off-putting about it."
