Michael Douglas "Devastated" By Son's Arrest
Cameron Douglas, the troubled son of actor Michael, has been moved to a federal remand centre in New York. The 30-year-old was under house arrest at his mother Diandra Douglas's Manhattan penthouse.
But he was moved after his girlfriend, Kelly Sott, allegedly brought over an electric toothbrush stuffed with heroin in the battery holder. Douglas was shifted to the Metropolitan Correctional Centre after the incident. Sott claimed she did not know about the drug stash. She is by coincidence being detained at Metropolitan too. Michael Douglas, meanwhile, declared that he and his family are devastated by Cameron's arrest on charges of selling thousands of dollars worth of mepthamphetamine. Cameron could face life in prison if convicted, it was earlier reported. Michael and Diandra publicly addressed their son's July 28 arrest for the first time by saying: "The family is devastated and very disappointed in Cameron's recent behaviour. Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how devastating it can be." Cameron, a sometime actor, was arrested at a Manhattan hotel. Prosecutors allege he used FedEx to ship large quantities of the drug from California to New York.
