Michael Jackson To Take Over American Idol
The masked-one gets his own week.
It's a big week for The King of Pop. First, Michael Jackson had us all speculating about whether he was going to make a musical comeback. Then, MJ confirmed he would indeed be performing a series of concerts in London. And now, American Idol is gettin' a piece of the masked-one.
The LA Times has confirmed that the first week of American Idol's "final rounds" (i.e. the round where the Top 13 actually start getting voted off week-by-week) will be devoted to the gloved one's songbook. The ghost of Michael Jackson past will also be joined by the real life Kanye West and the real life Kelly Clarkson, who will perform on Wednesday's results show.
It'll be interesting to see what Michael Jackson's songs are selected. Matt Giraud chose the Jackson Five's "Who's Lovin' You," and Kris Allen performed "Man In The Mirror," so we've seen a bit of Jackson so far this season. I'm rootin' for Anoop to do a little "Billie Jean" or maybe a little "PYT"... If you'll excuse me, I need to get a memo to Anoop before Tuesday.
