Michael Jackson's Family Wants Hard Charges For Doctor
As reports that Dr. Conrad Murray has prepared to surrender.
The moment draws near for Michael Jackson's doctor Conrad Murray to be charged with Jackson's death. Right now it's being speculated that the crime Murray will be sentenced for is involuntary manslaughter, but the Jackson family wants him to get it for second-degree murder.
The Associated Press has reported the following in the matter: "[Brian] Oxman [the Jackson family's attorney] told CBS' The Early Show that Dr. Conrad Murray displayed recklessness in dispensing powerful drugs to help Jackson sleep, warranting a second-degree murder charge. Involuntary manslaughter - the charge prosecutors reportedly plan to seek - carries a maximum jail sentence of just four years."
Apparently Oxman has said that involuntary manslaughter charges would be a measly "slap on the wrist" for Conrad Murray. The drug that Dr. Murray administered to Michael Jackson is called propofol, and it's meant to be administered to patients by a certified anesthesiologist in a medical setting. It's widely believed that Murray administered the drug to Michael Jackson in Jackson's home to help him sleep, which the state and Jackson family members contend severely goes against the intended use of the drug. As we reported, last August a large stash of propofol was found in Conrad Murray's closet.
Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyer said that he and his client "will be happy" to surrender if they receive a call informing them that Dr. Conrad Murray will be charged with manslaughter. Meanwhile did you catch our video of MJ's kids addressing the audience at the Grammys Sunday night? It's a touching speech that's worth a look.
