Michael Phelps clearly has a thing for California girls. Especially California girls who happen to win beauty pagents. But did you know the Olympic swimmer actually dated the controversial Carrie Prejean? In fact, it ended his relationship with another California beauty queen!
When you've won as many Olympic golds as Michael Phelps, you can pretty much have your pic of girls. And Michael chooses beauty queens from California. The current Miss California, Nicole Johnson, was Phelps's girlfriend for about a year in 2007. But they eventually broke up.
Why did they break up? Allegedly, the relationship ended because Michael started dating Carrie Prejean. According to a source, "Nicole Johnson dated Michael Phelps for a year during 2007 -2008. The main reason they ended their relationship is because Carrie Prejean started dating Michael and bragging about it while he was still with Nicole."
Wow! We kind of pinned Michael Phelps for being a bit of a douche, but we didn't exactly picture him with Carrie Prejean. Nicole Johnson is now speaking, but not really saying much. She says, "Now that it is after the fact, I will admit that we were together. We agreed to keep this private because it was the only thing that he could keep private ... we remain close friends."
