Michael Vick Gets a Television Show
Michael Vick is getting lucky again
Well, things are certainly looking up for Michael Vick, aren't they? It wasn't so long ago he was a scorned member of society. Now, he's been welcomed back to an NFL team and has scored himself a reality television show. And we're not quite sure how we feel about it.
Do you think Michael Vick deserves his own television show? It seems like people were angry enough that he was welcomed back to the NFL by the Philadelphia Eagles after being accused of organizing dog fighting rings. And now he's scoring his own television show on BET? It just doesn't seem right.
The show will be an 8-part documentary series that will portray Michael Vick from his childhood to the present (including through his prison term). Does he want us to try to understand him better or something? Well, yes actually. Vick says, "I just want people to really get to know me as an individual... What I want to do is change the perception of me. I am a human being. I've made some mistakes in the past, and I wish it had never happened. But it's not about how you fall, but about how you pick yourself up."
In a way, we agree. It is about how you pick yourself up. But how is getting invited back into the NFL and scoring a television show picking up? That's simply getting amazing opportunities that normal people don't get.
It's being said that Michael Vick owes about $20 million to creditors since he had to file for bankruptcy during his whole fiasco. So, we're sure his "pick yourself up" means start making money again. And this show should earn him about $600,000.
The show's producer says, "I was blown away by his willingness to be honest about everything." Well, great. We don't really feel like watching him talk about abusing dogs on television, do you?
