Michelle Obama Wears Wu
Jason Wu may only be 26-years-old but he's forever a part of American history.
Over the past few years Michelle Obama has proven herself to be something of a fashion maven. Never bowing to trends, staying true to her personal style, and mixing high and low brands are all parts of her fashion aesthetic.
So it's safe to say there was a fair amount of anticipation associated with her pick for the inauguration festivities. Many designers submitted sketches, with an elite few actually creating gowns. No one, not even Wu, was entirely sure who she'd end up wearing on the big night.
.
But as we all now know, Michelle opted for Wu. And we're so glad she did. The dress, a white, one-shouldered, chiffon, beaded number, looked fantastic and even carried a bit of tradition - it's not uncommon for first ladies to don white for the big night (Jackie Kennedy did).
.
Jill Biden also looked spectacular but went with something a bit more daring. Her strapless red gown made by red-carpet favorite, Reem Acra, was a hit - especially with her husband. Good thing, maybe it caused him to forget her Oprah slip-up!
Looks like the Smithsonian can add two more gorgeous gowns to their collection.
