Middle Age Begins at 55, New Survey Says [POLL]
So … We're All Going to Live to Be 110 Then?
A new survey of people in England suggests that we're all going to live to be at least 110, because people now consider 55 to be the new number of middle age.
So, maybe we're taking the results of the survey a bit too literally, but the news is good for people globally, because the results suggest people don't feel like they're middle-aged until they hit 55 (and 60, according to some participants).

The survey of 1,000 U.K. adults who were older than 50 -- as reported by BBC News -- found that seven out of 10 considered themselves middle-aged, but responded that, on average, they felt the period of life defined as middle age didn't begin until a person was 54 years and 347 days old (lesson: if you're 54 years and 346 days old, par-tay!).
The age people used to consider as the beginning of middle age: 36.
And 19 percent of the respondents said they don't think middle age is a period that begins at a specific age, but is rather a state of mind.
As for when the survey participants thought middle age ended -- i.e. what they consider to be old age -- the average number is 69 years and 277 days.

"More than half (of the people surveyed) said they have more confidence and experience than younger people and are less afraid of making mistakes," said Gill Jackson, director of the Love to Learn website, which sponsored the survey.
Added British journalist John Craven, who's supporting the launch of Love to Learn: "Only a generation ago, many people were pretty old at 60. These days most of us in our middle and later years are much younger in our attitudes and it's all about having an active state of mind."

Do you think people are middle-aged before the age of 55?
