Model Lake Bell Loves Her Adopted Dog

We love her for adopting.

Lake Bell's trying her hardest to get people to consider adopting dogs instead of buying! The model has a pit bull she got from a shelter, and she says that her dog is the sweetest ever. It sounds like it, too... after all, its name is Margaret.

Lake said that it's not easy combatting stereotypes, but her dog is a great example of the breed's loyalty and disposition when cared for with responsibility.

"I got her nine years ago, and her personality is so funny because she fancies herself as a cockapoo," Lake described.

"When people see her, because she has cropped ears and she looks scary, they cross the street. She looks at me like I'm the one with the problem! She has no idea why anyone would be afraid of her. She's definitely the kind of dog - even if you're terrified of dogs - you'd end up cuddling with her at the end of the night."

Cute, right? We've featured a few celebs on here lately that bought their dogs instead of adopting, and you know how we feel about it. While it's easy to go to a breeder and plunk down the cash for a dog, you can find an amazing best friend at a high-kill shelter. Saving a life is just as fun and easy as buying a dog from a breeder, and there's the surprise element--some of the dogs there are just plain weird looking. Fun!
