The All-You-Can-Watch Movie Theater Pass Is Now Available for $24.99
That's the Price of Less Than Three Movies in Cities Like New York
We'll share the bad news right up front: there's a wait list of 75,000 people. But if ever there's a waitlist to join, for movie lovers, it's this one: the new service MoviePass gives users the chance to sign up for a monthly plan that charges a flat fee and allows you to see one movie a day at a movie theater.
The price ranges from $24.99-34.99 per month, depending on where you live, but when a movie in New York City can cost as much as $14 per ticket, MoviePass would pay for itself if you only saw three movies a month.

MoviePass has been in the works for some time -- hence the waitlist -- but has dealt with several theater roadblocks, TechnologyTell.com reports, in terms of how a MoviePass customer would use the service.
But the kinks have apparently been worked out, and now customers will get a MoviePass debit card that will be used in conjunction with an app. You check in at the movie theater and choose the movie you want to see on your phone, then you swipe the MoviePass debit card to pick up your ticket.
There are a couple of restrictions on the service, including a limit of one movie per day (we're guessing if you can afford a discretionary purchase like MoviePass, you probably have responsibilities that would preclude you from hanging out at the movies all day, anyway), and MoviePass doesn't include IMAX flicks.

"MoviePass recently completed nine-months of closed beta trials and saw members increase their movie theater attendance by as much as 64 percent and their concession sales by 123 percent," MoviePass co-founder Hamet Watt said in a statement. "This should come as very exciting news to our industry as we look for new ways to engage with moviegoers."
PS -- If the thought of that waitlist is frustrating, ask any fellow moviegoers you know if they're one of the lucky early users. Current MoviePass customers can invite up to 10 friends to join the service right away.
