If you have to go out, you might as well go out with nachos, ice cream, french fries and a deep dish pizza in your belly. Murderer Gary Carl Simmons reqeuested a gargantuan meal of nearly 30,000 calories before he was executed.
Gary "The Butcher" Carl Simmons, 49, was put to death Wednesday by lethal injection at the Mississippi State Penitentiary for the 1996 murder of a man who he carved up with a butcher knife and threw in a swamp, but not before he ate the biggest meal of his life.
According to the jail-house order, Simmons requested the following: a medium Pizza Hut Deep Dish pizza with double portions of pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and jalapenos; another regular pizza with olives, bell peppers and sausage; 10 packs of ranch dressing; a family-sized bag of Doritos; two large strawberry milkshakes; an order of Super-Sized McDonald's french fries; two 20-oz. cherry sodas; and two pints of strawberry ice cream.
The meal weighed in at a gut-busting 29,000 calories, and according to jail keepers, Simmons was still eating it just 90 minutes before his execution.
Before he met his maker, Simmons had some last words.
"I've been blessed to be loved by some good people, by some amazing people. I thank them for their support. Now, let's get it on so these people can go home. That's it."
He was pronounced dead at 6:16 pm.
