'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' Gets Festive With Extra Bling [PHOTOS]
Gypsy Christmas Weddings Are Bigger And Fatter
As if the ceremonies on My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding weren't over-the-top enough, the weddings for the Christmas special have gotten out of control.
Last night, British fans of the hit show were treated to My Big Fat Gypsy Christmas, with an insight into the small Irish town of Rathkeale, which comes to life for three weeks over the Christmas season. As the quaint town is transformed into a Christmas party -- that's been vomited on by a fairy -- traveler families descend on the place with extra crystals, feathers and alcohol in tow.

For travelers, Christmas weddings are a cause for even more extravagance -- read: bigger gowns. One bride, 17-year-old Lavinia, wore a diamante-encrusted bridal gown that included 20 underskirts and was so heavy she wore nappies around her hips to prevent it from hurting.
Lavinia eventually married her intoxicated partner, 24-year-old Edward, but remarked: "It's the worst experience of my life carrying this dress. It's 15 stone."
In similar fashion, 17-year-old bride-to-be Charlene wore a dress made from more a mile of fabric, which the dressmaker confessed was the biggest she had ever made. The dress caused her much discomfort, as did her fiancé, who also turned up roaring drunk. Suffice to say, the show isn't afraid to present a negative stereotype of the traveling community.
