Natalie Portman to Star in 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'
Cover your brains!
Natalie Portman is taking her career to a whole new level of awesomeness. The Brothers actress has reportedly signed up to star in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, a combination of Jane Austen's classic tale of social maneuvering and flesh-eating zombies.
If this doesn't sound like the ultimate date movie, I don't know what does. You got yer zombies and action for the fellas, and you got yer romance and kissie-faces for the ladies.
The film will be an adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's bestseller by the same name. Portman will play classic literary heroine Elizabeth Bennet, except this time around Liz (like her four sisters) is specially trained in martial arts. The plot follows the original Austen novel surprisingly close, except for, of course, the senseless gore and violence.
According to Annette Savitch, Portman's partner at Handsomecharlie studios, the book is perfect for a turn on the big screen.
"Natalie and I are longtime passionate fans of Jane Austen’s books and this a fresh, fun and thought-provoking way to approach her work. The idea of zombies running rampant in 19th Century England may sound odd, but it lends a modern sense of urgency to a well known love story."
Finally the OG romance novel gets a healthy dash of blood and guts. My friends, this could be the beginning of beautiful things to come.
