Neil Patrick Harris to Host a Different Kind of Emmys
But NPH will make it a success!
When Neil Patrick Harris hosts this year's Emmys, the awards show will be a little bit different. While some aren't very happy about the changes, Harris says the changes are going to improve the show.
CBS plans to "time-shift" part of the telecast, meaning they'll tape the presentation of some categories 45 minutes before the broadcast begins.
Many writers and producers are not happy with this new format, but Neil Patrick Harris assures everyone it's going to be OK. He says, "We're just trying to edit down the standing and the hugging and the walking down the aisle. Quite frankly, the writers' speeches are some of the best ones of the night. So, we'll be able to highlight them more than anything. There's just some boring parts of that that we're just trying to trim down."
They decided to change the format of the Emmys because research found that, "potential viewers were not tuning in because it featured shows mainstream viewers didn't know or weren't interested in."
Neil Patrick Harris, one of the stars of How I Met Your Mother, has gained incredible popularity through the past few years, so we have a feeling that no matter how the show is formatted, the viewers will be happy watching him.
The Emmys are set to air on September 20.
