New Book: Angelina Jolie Made Mick Jagger Cry When She Rejected Him [VIDEO]

And pre-Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie adds another notch to her maneater past: according to a new biography of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, the singer spent several years so obsessed with Jolie that he was left to sob when she repeatedly rejected his advances.

Author Christopher Andersen's new Jagger bio Mick: The Wild Life and Mad Genius of Jagger will be released on Tuesday, and the New York Daily News' excerpts of the book include details on how ladykiller Jagger went gaga for Jolie when she played a stripper in the Stones' 1997 video for the song "Anybody Seen My Baby?"

Andersen reports that Jagger would make call after call to Jolie, who would ignore him.

More surprising: Jagger's pursuit of Jolie was encouraged by her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, despite the fact that Jolie was married at the time to actor Jonny Lee Miller and was already in the middle of an affair with her Playing God co-star Timothy Hutton.

Bertrand, according to a friend, "loved Mick for Angie … and felt that he could teach her about fame."

At the time Jagger -- who is just four years younger than Jolie's dad, actor Jon Voight -- pursued Jolie, she used hard drugs, was into S&M and was a self-confessed cutter, Andersen writes, and all of that was a plus for Jagger, who said, "She scares me a little. I like that."

Among Jagger's (unanswered) phone messages to Jolie, which left him sobbing when she ignored them: "Angelina, it's Mick. Will you please, please call me?" and "Miss Jolie, why aren't you returning my calls?"

Jolie eventually gave in and spent the weekend with Jagger in Florida, but was reportedly unimpressed with him. He, however, wanted more time with her.

His hot pursuit lasted more than two years, Andersen writes, through the birth of his sixth child (with Jerry Hall), and his 1999 split with Hall. Jagger gave Jolie a $5,000 pair of earrings, even though she was already juggling relationships with Hutton, Nicolas Cage, Russell Crowe and future husband Billy Bob Thornton at the time.
