New Moon's Lead Single: Listen to the First 40 Seconds

We thought we were going to have to wait for the VMAs to listen to the New Moon soundtrack's lead single.  But now we have access to the first 40 seconds of Death Cab for Cutie's "Meet Me on the Equinox."

We'll get to hear the full version of "Meet Me on the Equinox" along with the music video at the VMAs on September 13, but now we're getting a special sneak listen to the song on the website for the New Moon soundtrack.

What do you think of it? We actually love the song and think Death Cab for Cutie is the perfect band to sing for the second Twilight movie. Chris Walla, the guitarist for Death Cab, said this about filming the music video for the song, "The whole idea behind the video is that this house that we're in, this crazy ski lodge of a building here, it's going to get cut together with scenes from the film, sort of like it's a place that might be in Forks, sort of a place that might be next door to Bella's house or something." Now we can't wait to see the video at the VMAs too!

You can now preorder the New Moon soundtrack at the website as well. If you preorder the album for $9.99, you'll be able to download "Meet Me on the Equinox" automatically on September 13. Of course, you could also go ahead and pay $499.99 for the Limited Edition version of the album. Seriously. The gift set is so expensive because it includes a Twilight soundtrack commemorative plaque for sales over 2 million units, personalized with your name! It's quite expensive, but there are only 50 available, so you'll feel pretty special.

Now that we heard the first 40 seconds of "Meet Me on the Equinox," we're even more excited to hear the rest of the New Moon soundtrack!
