New Trailer for Zac Efron's 'Me and Orson Welles'
High School Musical? Never heard of it.
Zac Efron wants to show the world that he's got more than just a pretty face. The budding young actor shows off his more serious thespian abilities in the new film, Me and Orson Welles. Check out the trailer below.
Set in New York in 1937, the film follows a young actor named Richard Samuels (Efron) who is suddenly thrown into the world of theater when he lands a role in Orson Welles' Broadway production of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Things start to go south however when Samuels falls for a beautiful older woman, a production assistant (Claire Danes) who is hired to help him learn his lines.
The film, directed by Richard Linklater, is actually based upon a book by Robert Kaplow of the same name that follows Orson Welles' success in opening his Mercury Theater.
Though the trailer for the film has only just been released, and the film itslef doesn't hit theaters until the end of November, Me and Orson Welles was actually shown at last year's Toronto Film Festival.
And if you're wondering if it's any good, listen to critic Roger Ebert's review. He called it "one of the best films about theater I've ever seen."
