How about buying an upstate New York prison? The asking price is just $400,000.
To be specific, the Camp Georgetown prison is available for $390,000, and features 262 "bedrooms," 75 bathrooms and two gyms.

The minimum security Camp Georgetown Correctional Facility, located 35 miles from Syracuse, is situated on 31 acres and includes 38 buildings.
It shut down in 2011 due to budget issues and a decrease in prison population.
Obviously, the property offers quite a lot of security for the prospective buyer.
It's hopeful that a buyer will be found for the unique listing, with efforts underway to get a sportsman to purchase the property because of its proximity to state forest land used for trapping and fishing.

Georgetown Correctional Facility is one of seven prisons to close their doors last year in New York, with an estimated savings of $184 million over two years to tax payers.
The Camp Georgetown facility will be auctioned next month.
