Pamela Anderson Running the NYC Marathon for Haiti ...
From Baywatch to Broadway?
Pamela Anderson is leaving the ocean behind for, well, something out of the ordinary. The former Playboy Playmate revealed today that she'll be leaving California for a little while to do something impressive in the Big Apple.
Anderson, a 46-year-old mother of two, said in a statement today that she will be running the NYC Marathon on Sunday, October 3.
What would posess the Malibu-loving/living buxom blonde to do such a thing? Money for charity, that's what. In fact, she's doing it for Sean Penn's J/P Haitian Relief Organization which the Oscar winner established in the wake of 2010's devastating earthquake in the Caribbean country.
Talking to "Entertainment Tonight," Tommy Lee's ex said, "I've never taken on a physical challenge like this but I am willing to do something to show my dedication. It is incomparable to the struggle people (there) face. I didn't just want to be the kiss at the finish line. I wanted to do more and if I can raise $500,000, it is going to be a blessing to Haiti.
"I've been a supporter of Jp from the early stages. In the last few years I have become more involved. If you go to Haiti, you fall in love. It is intoxicating."
She adds, "I have worked to defend animal rights and environmental warriors for decades... and Haiti has been mostly deforested, sadly, which affects wildlife and people. It is vulnerable. I really believe Haiti might be the heart of the world."
Anderson will be running alongside five Haitian athletes whose time in NY will signify the first time they've ever touched foot on American soil.
