Paris Couture Shows Kick Off in High Style
Let them eat couture!
There is very little that is more fabulous than couture at its finest. And I must admit, during These Economic Times, I was worried this year would be reigned in. Yes, it would make sense. But so sad.
I shouldn't have feared. The couture shows kicked off in Paris yesterday and the designs were anything but disappointing.
John Galliano delivered draw-dropping looks for Christian Dior, Chanel went for crisp, clean lines and lady-like structure, and Armani designed for the red carpet. And the fun is only beginning. The three day event is sure to be an extravaganza.
Despite the recession, executives at labels like Dior, Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Christian Lacroix expect no drop in client attendance. In fact, some are even expecting growth.
In an industry with only a few hundred clients, adding just one is a major deal.
Maybe some Oscar contenders (I'm talking to you, Anne Hathaway) should book a ticket on Air France, pronto.
