Pat Robertson Under Fire for Wife Beating Comment

Holy wow. To say that televangelist Pat Robertson is a piece of work would be the understatement of the year.

Watch as he gives advice that alludes to a husband beating his wife.

Unreal. Only it's very much real.

Robertson, 82, offers up some advice during a segment on The 700 Club where he answers a question about a man experiencing some respect issues with his wife.

Basically, the man says he doesn't feel like his wife "respected him" and she didn't want to talk about it, so what could he do?

Robertson makes a comment about becoming a Muslim so he can beat his wife ... and it gets worse from there.

He added, "I think this man's gotta stand up to her and he can't let her get away with this stuff. I don't think we condone wife-beating these days but something's got to be done."

Wow.

Co-host Terry Meeuwsen seemed to try and steer Robertson onto a better course than suggesting that domestic violence as the answer, but then he spewed some nonsense about the psychological reasons the wife isn't respecting her husband.

He said she was a "rebellious child" who probably had temper tantrums, explaining, "She does not understand authority. When she was growing up, nobody made her behave and now you've got a 13 year old in a 30-year-old woman's body and she is acting like a child. Now what do you do with that? You can't divorce her, according to the Scripture, so I say move to Saudi Arabia!"

What a tool.
