Payless Will Sell Beauty Goodies This Fall
Will you get makeup at Payless?
Payless is going to be headed into the beauty world come September, kicking off in just 1,500 stores. When it comes to Payless, I always get excited about my potential buys, until I actually go into the store and see things close-up... maybe the makeup will be the same?
According to a new press release highlighted on WWD and Reuters, Payless ShoeSource has begun a collaboration with The Maesa Group, which is a French-based company that manufactures, sells, and distributes cosmetics-- including perfumes. (Imagine a Payless perfume-- pleather and rubber, anyone?)
If everything goes well, Payless will go ahead with a multi-year contract-- but we'll have to see how things do in the first 1,500 shops to get Payless cosmetics in-store.
"Our shoppers have responded very positively to our initiatives to go beyond footwear and democratize fashion and design in accessories as well, and this is one step further to bring consumers beauty products," LuAnn Via, chief executive officer of Payless, released in a statement to the press.
Because the brand isn't exactly synonymous with high-quality experiences, I'm not keen on trying out the beauty products on my face. With prices near $2.99 under brand names like "Unforgettable Moments," I'll probably stick to Wet 'n Wild, which is even cheaper and gets consistent high quality reviews.
Would you purchase Payless beauty goods?
