Princess Beatrice's Fascinator Raises $40K+ for Charity
Suck it, haterz.
Call it a toilet seat, a pretzel, whatever--Princess Beatrice's fascinator has already raised $40,000 and will provide UNICEF and Children in Crisis with badly-needed funds. Did anyone else's fascinator do that? I don't think so! It's a shrewd move on Beatrice's part.

The headpiece designed by Philip Treacy cost in the low thousands for Beatrice, but now it's worth $40,526.00 on eBay, with 76 bids so far.
"I've been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted," Beatrice wrote on the listing.
"It's a wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities. I hope whoever wins the auction has as much fun with the hat as I have."
Since bidding will go until Sunday at noon, Princess Beatrice's fascinator will be quibbled over a good deal more before it's purchased by a well-meaning kindred spirit (my kindred spirit--love that fascinator!).

I almost imagine that Kate Middleton's assistants have been deployed to bump up the price from time to time to help Beatrice's cause, but considering the royals' relationship with her mother, the Duchess of York, it's doubtful. Maybe Bea's friends and sister got in on the bidding to help her out, or perhaps there are other fascinator lovers/Philip Treacy fans out there hoping to get their hands on a piece of British history? I love that the fascinator will help the children--a perfect end to this zany accessory's story.
