Rapper Lil' Wayne May See Jail Time for Gun Charge
Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. heads to jail.
Lil' Wayne has found himself in a serious bind. The popular rapper plead guilty today to felony gun possession charges in New York City and will likely spend around a year in prison.
The charges stem from 2007, when Wayne's tour bus was pulled over by police after a concert. Inside they found a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol. At first Wayne, 27, was going to plead not-guilty, but after prosecutors claimed there was DNA evidence linking him to the gun, he changed his plea.
Under the new plea deal, Wayne will likely spend a year in jail. Otherwise, if he had been convicted, the sentence would have been up to 3 1/2 years.
There's no word yet on how this will affect his music career, and hopefully it doesn't get in the way of him providing for his family. Wayne is expecting his fourth child to R&B singer Nivea sometime in the coming months.
