Real Barbie Girls: Teens Arrive at Prom in Life-Size Barbie Boxes [SLIDESHOW]
They Had to Be Transported on a Flatbed Truck
Arriving at the prom in a limo? That's soooo 2011. A pair of British BFFs decided to kick it up a notch or twenty for their prom arrival: they made their debut inside homemade, life-size Barbie packages.

16-year-old pals Emily Pounde and Hannah Jagger donned their pretty gowns and tiaras and were completely -- pun intended -- dolled up for the prom, before stepping into the very clever Barbie boxes.
Pounde's mom spent two days and under $400 to construct the packages, which featured a see-through front, pink color, the Mattel logo and the Barbie font.
The girls then stepped into the boxes, which had been loaded onto a flatbed truck, and were driven around their British town to wow impressed onlookers.
The girls also stole the show when they arrived at their prom, but the U.K. Daily Mail.com reports theirs was not the only over-the-top prom debut.
Another set of friends arrived in a helicopter, two boys arrived in a vintage Rolls Royce, two girls drove up in an ice-cream truck and other arrivals included a Union Jack Mini Cooper and a Massey Ferguson tractor.

Meanwhile, the British teens' extravagant prom preparations have the Daily Mail pointing the finger at American influence, and TV shows like My Super Sweet 16 and Glee.
According to the Mail, the average amount of money spent by a British teen to attend the prom is now 209 pounds, or roughly $324.
