The American Red Cross is partnering with the network to raise awareness (and platelets) for the nation's blood supply. In a statement, the organization reminded people that in the event of a disaster, even a zombie apocalypse, it's blood donations that truly save lives.
The campain runs through October 22, just in time to last through the premiere of the third season of The Walking Dead on October 14.
In celebration of both events, AMC has digitally zombified a number of celebrities, including actress Mena Suvari, director Peter Jackson, rockers The Black Keys and comedian Aisha Tyler.
